Design of the wet utilities (water, sewer and storm drainage) is essential for a successful project. These can be located both on-site and off-site, depending on the actual project. Particular areas of coordination focus often have to do with the needs for gravity fall of sewer lines and storm drainage lines and the need for on-site retention and either dissipation or release of storm runoff. All local jurisdictions are taking hard looks at the runoff exiting sites and its effect on downstream properties and facilities. Usually we are required to design detention/retention facilities on the site such that the runoff after a new project neither adds to the runoff quantity nor concentrates it in a damaging manner. We work hard to design the necessary utility components in ways that are as easy and cost-effective as possible.
