Records of Survey

When we set property corners or show specific cutoffs to buildings and structures on property not already shown in its current shape and delineation on a previously recorded Subdivision Map, Parcel Map or Record of Survey, state law requires that we prepare a Record of Survey map for review by the County Surveyor and recording by the County Recorder.  This is a somewhat extensive operation since it requires careful presentation of supporting evidence from maps and deeds.

The State's reasoning for the whole procedure is to constantly upgrade the overall surveying knowledge base such that a surveyor working on the same or a nearby property in the future doesn't have to reinvent the wheel in terms of boundary information.
